I step off the plane and look directly down
Hoping to dodge the disappointed frowns
"What are you doing here?"
"You were supposed to be gone for another year."
"Sorry to hear that but when do you go back?"
It wasn't two years, a full effort you indeed lack.
There looks say, "He probably came home for dishonorable reasons."
"He couldn't even last for a whole four seasons."
I had dreamed of my triumphant return
They think in Hell I'll probably burn.
I went out there to serve God, isn't that enough?
A stain in there white clothes, and unwanted scuff.
I had longed of my friends and my home
Now I'm back, I've never felt so alone.
You came home early, you're weren't a missionary, you're not one of them.
When you serve a whole two years, you can then be honored as a RM.
Ugh, seriously? I know people may think this way, but the only person you need to be square with is Heavenly Father. Let 'em judge...fact is that the way people treat others is more a reflection of how they view themselves than anything else. I think you were out for the amount of time the Lord needed you to be and that He has other plans for your life...they don't happen to be the plans that everyone else thinks they *should* be...and that is on them. I didn't serve a mission...and still get the "awwwww pity" look, but I don't care. You sholdn't either. Heavenly Father doesn't have a problem with you and that is all that matters.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have said it better myself. God loves you Paul. You know that. He has a plan for you and your life- and you'll know soon enough why he needed you here at home. It will all make sense eventually, but until then just know that God knows what he is doing.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% with what Kelly said. Joseph in Egypt had a similar experience, he was judged by others for a situation that they knew nothing about. Only he and God truly knew the situation, and Joseph knew his true relationship with God. I am confident that you and God got things figured out and that you contributed significantly during the time the Lord allowed you a chance to be out there.
ReplyDeleteLife is a mission, and I'm sure that you are serving wonderfully. Thanks for posting!
